- Counterfeit Medicines
This work, undertaken for the international pharmaceutical industry,
has included developing a method to deal with rogue traders of
counterfeit medicines, by developing the "pharmaceutical safety chain".
- Predictive Health This
project for the English Department of Health was the first
policy-oriented examination of the impact of predictive modelling and
artificial intelligence on healthcare.
- Benchmarking 4th
Hurdle Systems The performance of medicines regulators came under
scrutiny in this work, conducted for industry and involving detailed
examination of the 4th hurdle systems of 8 OECD countries. This work
has been reported in the health technology assessment literature.
- Electronic Prescribing
With the rising interest in ICT in healthcare, this work for the
English Department of Health looked at the social and likely
implications of the increased use of electronic intermediaries in the
prescribing supply chain.
- Internet and Health
This involved working with an expert committee of the Council of
Europe, Strasbourg, France. The result was Recommendation (2004)17 on
new media and patients, issued by the Council.
- Digital Interactive
Television Policy research on emerging technologies for the English
Department of Health led to a significant examination of the potential
to exploit interactive technologies to deliver information and health
services into people's homes through the television. A key result was
the establishment of a digital health service available to people in
their homes through their television sets.
